Apprenticeships and traineeships provide a gateway to great jobs and real hands on training in almost any field of employment. Whether you’re interested in a career in Agedcare, Community services, early childhood education and care or hairdressing, an Australian apprenticeship or traineeship means you earn while you learn and gain a heap of onsite experience while you’re at it!

For employers apprenticeships and traineeships form the backbone of new employment in many Australian industries. They enable people to kick start their employment while they are learning and also offer employers great financial incentives for taking on new staff.

How do I begin an apprenticeship / traineeship?

Firstly you will need to secure employment as a trainee or apprentice. Your local Australian Apprenticeship Support Network can assist you to find and apply for apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.

Once you have found a position your employer must register your traineeship or apprenticeship with their local Australian Apprenticeship Centre. Part of this process will be the selection of a Registered Training Organisation, such as Angel Institute, which will provide your formal training.

Angel Institute offers the following Apprenticeships and Traineeship programs:

  • Certificate III in Hairdressing (Apprenticeship)
  • Certificate IV in Ageing Support (Traineeship)
  • Diploma of Community Services (Traineeship)
  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (Traineeship)

All Apprenticeship and Traineeship programs are delivered over a 36 month duration. Apprentices/Trainees will be undertaking on-the-job training which will include ongoing workplace learning and application of skills and knowledge while employed as a apprentice/trainee in a workplace setting. Training is undertaken in the workplace, teachers meet with trainees on a regular basis both face to face and via phone to support them in their training.

Constant exposure to the workplace environment as a trainee provides the trainee access to real work situations to increase their ability to acquire skills and knowledge in line with the training program.

You musht be already working in your desired industry. Your current position needs to be a minimum of 13 hours per week.

Domestic Students

ENGLISH
22484VIC Certificate I in EAL (Access)

This qualification is preparation for participation in further English language study or vocational training which may include English language support or employment.

22485VIC Certificate II in EAL (Access)

This qualification focus on the development of English language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills to develop relevant knowledge and skills for simple everyday communication.

22491VIC Certificate III in EAL (Further Study)

This qualification focuses on the consolidation of English speaking and listening, reading, writing and study skills to participate in a range of Australian further study contexts.

HAIRDRESSING
SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant

This qualification prepares you for the entry level skills required in a hair salon as a salon assistant. You will learn how to provide assistance with blow drying hair, braiding, applying basic treatments on hair, client services and a lot more.

SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing

This qualification reflects the role of hairdressers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients.

SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauty therapists to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services.

EARLY CHILDHOOD
CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

Early childhood educators work in long day care centers, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

CHC50121 Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

Educators in early childhood education and care workers work in regulated children’s education and care services.

EDUCATION SUPPORT
CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support

This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist teachers and support student learning in a range of classroom settings under the guidance of a teacher or other educational professional.

AGEING, COMMUNITY & DISABILITY
CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments.

CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation, and wellbeing.

CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services

This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.
